for voice and found wood
Dream Divisions was composed in January and February 2016 for Payton MacDonald’s Sonic Divide project – a “bikepacking” trip the length of the continental divide from the Mexican border to Canada, punctuated by musical performances. Drawing on Payton’s devotion to Indian music, I wrote a contrapuntal duet for voice – speaking rhythmic syllables – and found wood.
