J.K.D.S. was composed in July 2017 in honor of my colleague Jeffrey Kresky's retirement from the Music Department at William Paterson University. The piece recalls Jeffrey's eharmony, a composition for solo piano composed for our mutual friend and Jeffrey's classmate David Saperstein, "in recollection of his 'Etude I' of 1967." My short piece extends the homage, drawing on ideas from both of its predecessors.
